The Stamford-based company trademarked its signature whale logo in 2005 and has been associated with relaxed, semi-formal wear for nearly two decades. According to the article, Vineyard Vines recently became aware that Wicker designs was selling merchandise in its Providence and Newport stores featuring a logo that bore an uncanny resemblance to the trademarked smiling whale.
According to a lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court, Vineyard Vines is seeking the immediate discontinuation of all copyrighted clothing, and demands any merchandise bearing the logo be turned over to Vineyard Vines.
