“I want people to know we created a safe haven for families to practice together,” says owner Ellen Bonheim.
The business, which opened last fall at 80 Grove St., offers a range of activities from nutrition, reiki and hypnotherapy — as well as yoga.
Yoga classes prenatal yoga, postnatal/mommy and me, kids yoga, teen yoga, gentle flow, happy hour flow, and family yoga.
Gentle flow is ideal for beginners and those looking for a more calming yoga experience, Bonheim said. Happy hour flow is a continuation of gentle flow with an addition with some arm balances or inversions. Family yoga is for families of all ages to come together on the mat and stay connected to one another.
“I wanted a place for mom to meet other moms and to continue with other people in the community,” Bonheim said.
At Firefly Family Yoga, the first class is free. There is a drop-in rate of $25 and five-class pass rate of $100. They also added a 10 class pass at a reduced price of $180.
"Our warm and welcoming community encourages you to slow down and enjoy the little things," the website says. "Teaching by example, we hope to show our children a calmer way of living."
Classes, consultations and workshops are held at the studio, and through private instruction by appointment. Firefly Family Yoga also leads classes at preschools, day care centers and summer camps.
"Firefly Family Yoga's mission is to help each student find a sense of peace while stirring the fire within," the website says. "Whether coming to the mat for the first time as an expectant mother, a toddler, a teen or an adult, yoga has something for everyone. Let Firefly Family Yoga guide you on your journey."
