Ridgefield Welcomes Jersey Mike's Sandwiches To Town

RIDGEFIELD, Conn. – Since opening just over a month ago in Ridgefield, the Jersey Shore-themed sandwich shop Jersey Mike’s has set itself apart by dishing up its signature subs.

Jersey Mike's, a new sandwich shop in Ridgefield, boasts freshly made items, from the meats sliced to order and the bread baked in the morning.

When asked what sets Jersey Mike’s apart from other sandwich shops in town, franchise owner Brian Egan said the shop serves all fresh ingredients -- from baking bread every morning to freshly slicing all the meats that go onto the sandwiches.

“We work in a conveyor line,” Egan said. One person will slice the meat, the next will put on the vegetables and the third will wrap the sandwiches.

Opening the Ridgefield location was one of the easiest restaurant openings he has ever launched, Egan said.

“I’ve opened at least 100 restaurants in my career, and this was probably the best opening crew I’ve ever had,” he said. “They’re great kids.”

The $1,600 the restaurant donated to the Ridgefield Boys & Girls Club from the grand opening weekend was due in part to the great team he has in Ridgefield, Egan said.

He said he has been pleased to be able to “draw from such a great employee base” in Ridgefield.

For Egan, the franchise isn’t just about making great sandwiches -- it's also about working within the community.

“We like to do a lot with the community,” he said. The shop has become involved with the Ridgefield Chamber of Commerce and is partnering with the Ridgefield Education Foundation, along with the Boys & Girls Club.

“Once a year, all the day’s proceeds will go to a local charity,” Egan said.

Jersey Mike’s is tucked away in the Super Stop & Shop center at 125 Danbury Road and is open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Started in 1956, Jersey Mike’s now has 1,300 restaurants open and under development nationwide. In just three years, the company has nearly doubled in size. Jersey Mike's have also opened recently in Connecticut in Wilton, Fairfield and Branford.
