Police: Expect Heavy Traffic As Connecticut's First Golden Corral Opens

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — As Connecticut's first Golden Corral prepares to open Thursday for hungry patrons, be prepared for gridlock on the roads as well as at the restaurant's buffet.

Even the Milford police issued a warning for Thursday, which is grand opening day for the hugely popular chain.

"Expect heavy traffic in the area of Turnpike Square for the opening of Golden Corral, consider alt routes," Milford police posted on Facebook. 

The buffet-style chain restaurant will open at 74 Turnpike Square, in a space that formerly housed Hometown Buffet.

The closest Golden Corral restaurants to Fairfield County are in Springfield, Mass., and Middletown, N.Y. 

Golden Corral serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is best known for its hot buffet, where diners can enjoy unlimited quantities of everything from pizza to steak and a wide selection of foods from various ethnicities. It also offers a breakfast buffet and a soup and hot potato bar.

The Milford location has already amassed a hungry following: Its Facebook page has more than 4,400 followers who are anticipating the grand opening.
