Red Robin is scheduled to open at the end of October, said Melissa Eigen, senior marketing manager for the Danbury Fair Mall. Work is underway on its new space under the food court. It will include a new entrance straight to the outdoors.

"It will add some character to that side of the mall," Eigen said. "It will open to the outside. It will be nice and open with a new landscape."

Red Robin, which is a new eatery in the Danbury area, is going into the space vacated by Eastern Mountain Sports, which moved across the street to the Shops At Marcus Dairy.

Never been to Red Robin? "It's all about burgers," the Red Robin website says. "Our standards for selecting the finest quality meat are high, but it takes the very best meat to create the best, most craveable burgers in the business."

The nearest Red Robins are currently at the Post Mall in Milford and the Oakwood Commons Plaza in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. Learn more about the restaurant at its website. Interested in working there? Check out its employment website

Opening in mid-November will be The Burger Joint, also known as BGR, Eigen said.

It will be on the lower level, at the main entrance near the Macy's end of the mall. BGR will be next to Chipotle, splitting the space formerly occupied by Pizzeria Uno.

According to its website, BGR is "not a fast food place, not a mass production burger operation, but a 'joint' — one that you can make your own, stay awhile and enjoy the food."

This will be the chain's first restaurant in Connecticut, but it has nearby locations at 20 S. Moger Ave. in Mount Kisco and at the Cross County Mall in Yonkers, N.Y. For job opportunities in Danbury, check out the employment website

Looking for a quick snack or something to take home? Harry & David will be opening a temporary store in the lower level Center Court on Oct. 1, Eigen said. Harry & David, known for its baskets of fruit, chocolate and other goodies, is opening just for the holidays. Check out its website here
